## About the data

- Dataset: NOAA NCEP GHCN_CAMS Gridded 2m Temperature v3.01 (station-based analysis, public domain).
- Variable: monthly mean 2 m air temperature over land; 0.5° × 0.5° (~55 km) grid; land only, Antarctica excluded by the v3.01 source.
- Coverage: January 1948 – present, updated monthly by NOAA.
- Each displayed value is a gridded climate average for a ~55 km cell — not a live thermometer reading.
- Anomaly mode shows the selected window's mean minus the 1991–2020 climatology for the same month.
